Pet insurance is a vital purchase for owners keen to avoid expensive vets bills.
Individuals who take good care of their animals may think this cover is not needed, but they could not be further from the truth, Wigan Today reports.
"No matter how carefully you look after you pets ... there is always the possibility that [animals] will become ill or injure themselves in some way," the news provider stated.
The policy will cover owners in most circumstances and shows that people are being responsible when it comes to their pets.
A balanced diet and regular exercise is essential if animals are to stay in good condition.
While individuals may be tempted to offer their pets leftovers and chocolate treats, this is not a good idea as it can negatively affect their heath.
It comes after research by More Than found 20 per cent of owners speak to their dogs for over one hour every day.
